Neck Pain Management
Neck pain is a common problem. It can be caused by many conditions including degenerative disc disease, disc herniation, muscle strains, muscle spasms, osteoarthritis and spinal stenosis. Neck pain can also be caused by bad posture or whiplash injury. It can be associated with referred pain to the arm or hand secondary to pressure on the nerve roots. Some patients can also experience weakness, numbness or tingling.
If you suffer from neck pain, please call and schedule your appointment with Dr Iskander, a board-certified pain management physician, today. At Jonalee Pain and Wellness, we use several modalities for neck pain management to help improve your pain and function. Modalities like physical therapy, home exercise programs, non-opioid medication management or procedural interventions may be indicated.
Some of the common procedures performed for Neck pain include:
Epidural Steroid Injections: Steroids are injected in the vicinity of inflamed nerves to decrease inflammation and to improve pain. This procedure is performed under x-ray guidance.
Medial Branch Nerve Blocks: This injection targets the nerves that supply the facet joints of the neck. This procedure helps identify the source of your pain and is performed under x-ray guidance. If you experience pain relief from this procedure, you may be a candidate for radiofrequency ablation which provides a longer lasting pain relief.
Radiofrequency Ablation: This procedure decreases nerve transmission of pain signals by causing a heat lesion on the nerve. This procedure is performed under x-ray guidance.
